About the Author

Chee Soon Juan is secretary-general of the Singapore Democratic Party and director of the Open Singapore Centre. Formerly a researcher in neuropsychology at the National University of Singapore and currently a visiting fellow at the University of Chicago, he is author of To Be Free: Stories from Asia’s Struggles Against Oppression(1998), Singapore, My Home Too (1995), and Dare To Change: An Alternative Vision for Singapore (1994).
