Aleksey Simonov

Aleksey Simonov has been chairman of the board of the Glasnost Defense Foundation (GDF) in Moscow since 1991. A Moscow native, he is a specialist in Indonesian literature and has worked as a translator, journalist, and film director. In 1994, he accepted on behalf of the GDF an International Press Club award that recognized the Foundation’s work in defending freedom of the press in Russia.
